X-WR-CALNAME:YSE: Hitachi Energy Visit
X-WR-CALDESC:We are delighted to invite members of the Young Swiss Engineers to an exclusive visit to Hitachi Energy’s global headquarter and Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) manufacturing facility in Zurich-Oerlikon. Hitachi Energy is the energy arm of Hitachi Group and a global leader in electrification and powering the electricity era. Headquartered in Switzerland\, they employ over 56\,000 people in 60 countries and generate revenues of around $20 billion USD. The Zurich-Oerlikon site is one of Hitachi Energy’s most important production hubs. During the visit\, participants will have the opportunity to tour the manufacturing facility and learn how these highly sophisticated products are engineered\, assembled\, tested\, and delivered to critical energy infrastructure projects worldwide. The tour will provide a unique behind-the-scenes look at modern manufacturing processes\, advanced testing facilities\, and the rigorous quality standards required to ensure the safe and reliable operation of high-voltage equipment. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the close collaboration between engineering expertise\, innovative technology\, and precision manufacturing that underpins every product leaving the site. In addition to exploring the factories\, we will learn about Hitachi Energy’s contribution to the global energy transition\, the growing demand for resilient power systems\, and the key role that GIS technologies play in supporting the expansion of renewable energy and the modernization of electrical grids. The event is particularly relevant for engineering students or recent graduates interested in high-voltage technology\, industrial manufacturing\, and the future of the energy sector. It also offers an opportunity to learn more about career paths\, internships\, and graduate programs at Hitachi Energy. Following the factory tour\, all participants are warmly invited to a small apéro\, providing an opportunity to network with fellow Swiss Engineering members and Hitachi Energy employees in a relaxed setting. We look forward to welcoming you to Zurich-Oerlikon for an informative and inspiring evening. Programm: 15:45 - 16:00 Meet at location 16:00 - 16:30 Intro to Hitachi Energy 16:30 - 17:30 Factory tour 17:30 - 18:30 Apero
